We're thrilled to have partnered with Toronto product stylist Dee Connolly to create a custom furoshiki wrap for her new brand of elevated party supplies - Pardee!
What is Pardee's mission as a company? How did Pardee get started?
As with many creatives, Covid brought uncertainty to my career when studios were forced to shut down indefinitely. However, I refused to let the situation dampen my spirits. Instead, I decided to pursue my passion for gifting and party planning, which had always been a dream of mine. During my time off, I dedicated myself to sourcing exquisite party products from all over the world, channeling my creative energy into something positive amidst the unstable climate. And thus, Pardee, short for "Par (by) Dee," was born!
What is The Pardee's mission as a company?
At Pardee, our mission is to simplify the party planning process, making it less overwhelming and more organized for our clients. Drawing from my 30 years of experience in the industry, my job has always been to navigate through the chaos and select the best creative options for each set I work on. We understand that many individuals appreciate the beauty of a well-planned event, but may not feel confident in their ability to execute it themselves. That's where we come in - to offer guidance, support, and expertise to help bring their vision to life in a stress-free manner.
What is your creative process? Is there something unique to Pardee that you couldn’t imagine creating without?
Pardee is a haven of creativity and resources, where we aspire to inspire and delight individuals with luxurious products and stunning imagery that stimulate their inner creative genius. Our store primarily caters to adult parties rather than children's events. We are fortunate to have an exceptional Art Director, Sherry Preston, whose unrivaled creative sensibility has been invaluable in helping Pardee establish a refined and sophisticated presence in the world of parties. Her passion for modern, stylized design has played a pivotal role in our success.
Which of your initiatives are you most proud of?
We take great pride in our commitment to preserving our beautiful planet and finding sustainable ways to celebrate. Our collaboration with Wrappr is a prime example of how we strive to celebrate without causing harm to the environment. While we do offer disposable party ware, we are constantly exploring alternative ways to create beautiful events. As we face the challenges of climate change, we remain dedicated to sourcing and providing as many eco-friendly options as possible. We understand the limitations of recyclable materials currently available in the party industry, and therefore, we have partnered with One Tree Planted to offset any waste produced. Moreover, our cards and stickers are printed using natural dyes on recycled paper, further reinforcing our eco-conscious values.
Tell us a bit about the artist or the artwork used on your Wrappr!
Our Wrappr furoshiki wrap was created by my daughter, Sadhbh. We tasked her with capturing the essence of Pardee through an elegant and sophisticated design, while still maintaining the celebratory spirit. The simple yet eye-catching graphics and vibrant colors make it the perfect addition to any special occasion. Additionally, its reusable nature allows for endless enjoyment, further enhancing its value. We are particularly excited that Wrappr offers a recycled plastic fabric option, aligning with our commitment to eco-conscious efforts.
How did you come to work with Wrappr and what is the highlight of collaborating with Wrappr for you?
As a product stylist with three decades of experience, I've had the pleasure of collaborating with a variety of clients such as Harry Rosen, Holts, Talbots, and The Gap. I find great joy in crafting innovative solutions to showcase my clients' products to the fullest. During a photoshoot with Dave Wile, we discussed Wrappr and the stunning photography he provided. I was immediately captivated by this fresh concept of gift wrapping and knew that I wanted to contribute to the creative process. The exquisite fabrics and beautiful designs are truly inspiring, and I appreciate Brittany's openness to new ideas, which makes the experience all the more delightful.
What is your favourite way to use a Wrappr?
Personally, I love using a Wrappr to create a charming picnic spread. I gather all the essentials and tie them together with a stunning fabric wrap. Once we arrive at our picnic spot, I use the same wrap as a beautiful tablecloth to enhance the overall experience of dining outdoors. It's a simple yet effective way to elevate a picnic and enjoy the beauty of nature at the same time.
